Getting Our Kicks~ Route 66 Vaca ~ Day 12~ California Dreaming

San Luis Obispo to Pismo Beach to Monterey, CA
 Pismo Beach, CA

Then we got on Highway 1 only to quickly get off again at Morro Bay, CA
Fish and chips sounded good and they were.
Then back on Highway 1 and as we were traveling higher grounds we were able to look down into this charming little town.   We decided to check it out and found out they were having a festival.

Every single business had "Scare Crows."  I probably have 50 pictures to share.  I'll have to do a specific post on Cambria, CA and the Scare Crow Festival later.

We stopped at an overlook at a nature perserve.
Found Elephant seals playing in the ocean and some sunning.
We kinda got the feeling the animals had been fed.  Anybody remember Yogi Bear?

Today was a photographer's dream on Highway 1.
It was also a time we were glad we drove the van with the large gas tanks as again we drove over 80 miles without seeing a gas station.

Some of these surprised me when I pulled them up on the computer.
It was an awesome drive.
You thought nothing could top what you just saw until you drove around the curve and saw something else just more spectacular!
God, nice job.

  2. Love the cliffs in the first photo! Some of those scarecrows are very detailed. That's a cool idea for a festival! Gorgeous country in those last shots!
