Bucket List Trip 2016~Day 6~ Waterloo, IA to Tea-Sioux Falls, SD

After a great night's sleep in a soft, cozy bed,
and a good breakfast at the hotel at Waterloo,
we headed north to get to church & revisit where Mr. G was born.
This was the area we started to visit last Friday, but put off because of a flash flood that day.
Except for the Little Brown Church, all pictures are drive by shots.
Only about a dozen pictures have been cropped or retouched by Photoscape.
The rest are actual shots. I did mark a few to point out they were untouched.
 Cedar Falls, John Deere Museum
It couldn't have been a more beautiful day.
The sky was crystal clear with temps in mid 70s.
We quickly checked out the cute Little Brown Church @ Nashua.

We decided to go on to the Church of Christ located across the street
from where Mr. G's grandparents lived when he was a child.
We hoped it started at 11.
Our AT&T connection has not worked well in central Illinois and Iowa
so we couldn't find out starting time.

Loved the ornamental grass growing wild between Charles City and Colwell, IA.

Just as we arrived at church, we met a lady walking out that said church had just dismissed.
We asked if she knew of Mr. G's family name.
Said she had been there since 1959 and knew of one lady with that family name,
but didn't remember Mr. G's Grandparents.
Mr. G had taken a picture of a painting the house.
Glad he did. The roof line helped us decide for sure that we had found the house.

 Notice the political sign.
Yep, for real.

After finding out we'd missed church
and had our photography session,
we decided to head west to South Dakota.

 Have no idea?
It was at a Community College Farm.
Lots of businesses and homes honoring 911 today.

A Pumpkin Farm that had a corn maze.
Shucks, the whole state could be a corn maze.

After nothing but corn with some soy beans all through Iowa,
just before getting to South Dakota we started seeing some livestock.

Our ride was beginning to get tiresome,
especially when we saw the other end of the road so far away

 How far can you see?

 Canton, SD courthouse

Pizza Ranch was an interesting concept.
Full bar of pizza & salad
and another bar of fried chicken, assorted potatoes & green beans.
Have you ever had mashed potato pizza?
I thought I was getting a slice of cheese pizza.
Imagine my surprise when I bit into it!
Another great deal on hotel tonight!
Such a difference between Sat and Sun night.
Mr. G quickly found the football game
and crashed on his bed.
While some folks can ride for 8 to 12 hours,
we just can't.
Five hours wears us out.
Certainly ready for that hot shower and soft bed tonight.
